Start by deciding where you would like it to go. Keeping in mind:

  • How big would you like the deck to be?
  • What is the main purpose for the deck? (e.g: for entertaining, an extension of your living area or a spa pool…)
  • Where in your garden do you have most of your privacy
  • North facing is the best spot for all day sun. Does this suit your place? 


A:

The two main timbers are pine and Kwila. Pine gives a honey color finish as where Kwila has a more rich in colour finish due tothe natural oils in the timber. Both are hard wearing, pine has a life expectancy of25years; whilst Kwila is 17 years. We have photographs of both types of timbers used for decks on this web site under “Portfolio” 


A:

Vitex is also known as Vasa, it also is an imported Hardwood.  The heartwood of Vitexis used for decking.  It is a darker yellowisih brown or walnut brown in color.  The grain is straight to interlocked and the texture is fine and even.  Vitex has a life expectancy of 15 to 25 years (when tested in Australian conditions).

Kwila is more expensive because it is imported and the price might varydue to the exchange rate and freighting costs.

We can install any tupe of roofing you would like eg; thatch roofing, louvres, Poly carbonate.We generally specialise in corrugated polycarboante roofing.

You will need a permit if:

  • Your deck is more than a metre off the ground
  • Your deck is close to a boundary fence
  • You were to have a roof over the top of your deck.

Note: You may not need a permit if your pergola is without a roof.
